Unusual suspect The Yamaha XS400 is not a bike that is particularly popular or well-known with bikers. It was built and sold between 1978 and 1987, and was in fact preceded by the XS360. Severely overshadowed by its more successful siblings at that time, the XT500 and XS650, Yamaha did manage to sell a decent number of the XS400 in Europe.

My 'Racer' Build (and Re-Build) Hey guys! I had originally posted when I got my 81 XS 400 4r4, but never got around to posting build photos last year. I had a time frame of around a month to get it ready to ride so it was hectic and I didn't get to take any photos during the process. Cut a lot of corners also, just so I could get it on the streets.

Here are some pics of my 79' xs400 cafe project. There is alot i am changing with this bike. Dont worry bars are on the top of the list (going to install some clip on's). And yes the seat is a fab'd steel pan. The gas tank is a 77' xs360. The bike has been converted to a single mikuni vm34 round slide. Plans to completely change the whole image.
